It's always a fun time to come together again and celebrate our season. There are certificates to hand out from the many post-season awards, but also the Team votes on a handful of awards, and then we celebrate our Seniors! Our Team Awards winners this year were the following:<p></p><p><b>Panther Pride "Best Teammate"--Kelly Ferrero</b></p><p><b>Culinary Logistics--Katie Kraczkowsky</b> (I came up with this one because Katie was such a huge help with the food orders on our road trips!)</p><p><b>MCVB Spirit "Positive and motivational spirit of MCVB"--Stephanie Mayer</b></p><p><b>Yellow Jersey "Consistent Effort, day in and day out"--Molly Harrison</b></p><p><b><br /></b></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEU54u0rBt6aMTSgICou__tP2UKl6zzJ9dRIpZJGC6w-O94PaghRqDoJwwbJdtYiAlXuStZHsMfXNCMIi_oqVZTgRYeEVkF1rW5sHLuYSz941j3oJpJsudmJ4jeFSyONwJzx_jTefv7TGK2gV0Ek-JpcLxS4dZAA8AFeAjWtsY6IIsacB40lzhceXv40Bp/s640/srs%20banquet.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEU54u0rBt6aMTSgICou__tP2UKl6zzJ9dRIpZJGC6w-O94PaghRqDoJwwbJdtYiAlXuStZHsMfXNCMIi_oqVZTgRYeEVkF1rW5sHLuYSz941j3oJpJsudmJ4jeFSyONwJzx_jTefv7TGK2gV0Ek-JpcLxS4dZAA8AFeAjWtsY6IIsacB40lzhceXv40Bp/s320/srs%20banquet.jpg" width="320" /></a></b></div><p></p><p><br /><br /><b><br /></b></p><p>Then, we celebrated our Seniors with the fleece blanket embroidered with their # and MCVB, and the freshman get their "old school" Varsity Letters! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAKZUinhW7cNGETxOxhe7YXY6SIKPigPftsGeHxjUtPLXhMzj-USr0FC-knmCBc931PSV8vdaeL03bSXqEBFy7AKYKMSyifa7t6f4stbVG8i2cLPV6Ld3f5FY4z_CSm8mdigknILPw2BF_JKT5DGkHgzvHRaD10QvNgPaMjs_pb-pQoClbfOCPbXLrziGv/s640/frosh%20banquet.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAKZUinhW7cNGETxOxhe7YXY6SIKPigPftsGeHxjUtPLXhMzj-USr0FC-knmCBc931PSV8vdaeL03bSXqEBFy7AKYKMSyifa7t6f4stbVG8i2cLPV6Ld3f5FY4z_CSm8mdigknILPw2BF_JKT5DGkHgzvHRaD10QvNgPaMjs_pb-pQoClbfOCPbXLrziGv/s320/frosh%20banquet.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>And, we can't leave out our sophomore and junior classes!! We ended with a 16-9 overall record; 7-3 Conference record, good for #3 seed in the NESCAC Tournament. We also finished ranked 2nd in New England, earning one of THREE at-large bids for NESCAC teams. In typical fashion after a season like this, we had many people getting honors in the post-season awards.<p></p>Once again, this year, like last year, every upperclassman on the team was honored as an Academic All-NESCAC team member. Freshmen aren't eligible, but to have every other member of the team achieve this level of academic prowess is something we're very proud of!<div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd4vk2IxdP7yGKMmetGoE44NKjJQYuWK7rWVdJXA72SbGtM_WIyWMyxOTAKaHTV-SyDRVPXsISHIcx-EuGyh4H970l_LLbB6RpE_cFX3rA7LA19sUI80CiajhEgbYorpCwiJhNMxbmC1HoTV-GwJo_Rvea6YGdnPTDbFMU6UNlzdCayk_ukmWDCnZymtX4/s1936/awards%20post.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1013" data-original-width="1936" height="167" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd4vk2IxdP7yGKMmetGoE44NKjJQYuWK7rWVdJXA72SbGtM_WIyWMyxOTAKaHTV-SyDRVPXsISHIcx-EuGyh4H970l_LLbB6RpE_cFX3rA7LA19sUI80CiajhEgbYorpCwiJhNMxbmC1HoTV-GwJo_Rvea6YGdnPTDbFMU6UNlzdCayk_ukmWDCnZymtX4/s320/awards%20post.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>On top of that, both Molly and Gabbie O'Toole were named 1st Team All-NESCAC, and Katie was 2nd Team. Then, we had four players make both All-Region and Honorable Mention All-American!! It was truly a well-rounded team with two of those honorees being seniors, one junior and one freshman! Congratulations to all!</div><div><br /></div><div><br />Additionally, Britt was honored by her teammates with her second consecutive All-Sportsmanship nod, so I just had to post her announcement with the picture of her loyal fan club below it! Against <a href="https://athletics.middlebury.edu/womens-volleyball/2023/boxscore/vs-manhattanville-college/13429/pdf" target="_blank">Manhattanville</a>, Lauren led the way with 8 kills, followed by a trio of players with 6 (Kaite, Ava, Molly), and then Lexi and Steph had 5 and 3 kills respectively. We led in every statistical category and had a somewhat dominant performance. It was a great match, and a good start to our weekend! (It was also my 500th win, which as coaches, we know just means I've been around a long time, but nice to get that milestone with this group in that setting!) Another bonus of the weekend location was that Jack was close enough from home to come and help us out! Always great to have Coach Jack back on the bench!!<p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgshmZ_zeO8KzSRfvUdZLTPhJphF31JZsn_rm7HIGepZ5H7BjF-i3gy3WUn2uZdVPJZTqUiz4AUnds-o5Lmw8JjGkX25azG44_m0NpmnPYOU8DacG6OYucKdwkDgGv8vDz7zDQoL93qFHpqZQlwTKjJqyK-j1NCPlC8X-nJWvcz-A91jiyGXsKIYvv6ofpL/s4026/ncaa%20team.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2529" data-original-width="4026" height="201" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgshmZ_zeO8KzSRfvUdZLTPhJphF31JZsn_rm7HIGepZ5H7BjF-i3gy3WUn2uZdVPJZTqUiz4AUnds-o5Lmw8JjGkX25azG44_m0NpmnPYOU8DacG6OYucKdwkDgGv8vDz7zDQoL93qFHpqZQlwTKjJqyK-j1NCPlC8X-nJWvcz-A91jiyGXsKIYvv6ofpL/s320/ncaa%20team.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>The <a href="https://athletics.middlebury.edu/sports/wvball/stats/2023/johns-hopkins-university/boxscore/13430" target="_blank">Hopkins match</a> was a very tight match, and I felt like we played them very tough, pushing it out to four sets, but we couldn't quite force the 5th set. We lost a tough first set in extra points 24-26, and won the second set, but couldn't come up with the points to push the score to even in the third and fourth sets. Overall, we felt good about our performance. They had one OH that we just couldn't contain who went off for 26 kills, but other than that one player, I think we more than held our own. Ava led the way with 13 kills, followed by Katie with 11 and Molly with 10. Lexi had a match high 5 blocks, followed closely by Molly with 4 and Ava with 3. Kelly also had a match high 28 dig performance, landing her a spot on the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlfm-pjUfHwqHBzFvhxL52bpwBYFHkhTkPipLyB5t7XKP5DXU17JMnBbuyZwvj27pzPfVllGkk5kfMsWL-PXvgR-peHoBtRifJ95Iv0Bgr6AsUZsTJ8n4kr22OaWNQ-sFCOl8Yfqs51Ulv2H2UQGoTA9BkHBidl5vPSpD7dya0bX3TiYFtb8ZxkEs8q8Mw/s3695/ncaa%20seniors.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3695" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlfm-pjUfHwqHBzFvhxL52bpwBYFHkhTkPipLyB5t7XKP5DXU17JMnBbuyZwvj27pzPfVllGkk5kfMsWL-PXvgR-peHoBtRifJ95Iv0Bgr6AsUZsTJ8n4kr22OaWNQ-sFCOl8Yfqs51Ulv2H2UQGoTA9BkHBidl5vPSpD7dya0bX3TiYFtb8ZxkEs8q8Mw/s320/ncaa%20seniors.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />It's always hard to say goodbye to seniors, and this class really came together and propelled the team to a great season despite some injuries and tough losses. We also partnered with them to raise awareness about mental health and change the stigma to being one of understanding. This partnership with the newly formed Varsity HS team is a very rewarding experience for our team and for their young team as well, so it's a wonderful, shared experience expressing our collective love of the game of volleyball.<p></p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Once we actually started the season, we played a tough non-Conference invitational at Kean University. We played the hosts to a 1-3 defeat on Friday night and battled a tough Gettysburg team to a heart-breaking 2-3 loss on Saturday morning. However, we capped off the tournament with a convincing 3-0 sweep of SUNY Cortland, who would go on to only lose 3 matches all year and all three opponents that weekend would go on to make the NCAA Tournament in November. That first weekend, we were striving to find a groove and a lineup that would be successful. We had our veteran setter, Gabbie and a strong defensive lineup of senior libero Kelly and senior DS Britt. We had returning starters and fellow seniors Katie and Lexi, but Lexi was coming off an injury from last year that followed her through the summer, but Katie picked up where she left off and was our leading returning point scorer...until we discovered our new freshman phenom, Molly!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Im060MEii4jxTGflTuFZKzsddEFS2hTUQwC0hWeRjfX_1UvOoOmvOT3kHg9jbgby08wn2MzcWcwFRbz7C4i7XvRqSFASfaQYVhv1hhDZ-IX50mV2LcaW6n3xXls9VRYcWpEMcb_spkXQQcPP2M-xv-SkqSeFMKptHl36T7evoisNMYneZxLoElOJ6rni/s5472/BenchCelebration23Hamilton3.JPG" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="5472" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9Im060MEii4jxTGflTuFZKzsddEFS2hTUQwC0hWeRjfX_1UvOoOmvOT3kHg9jbgby08wn2MzcWcwFRbz7C4i7XvRqSFASfaQYVhv1hhDZ-IX50mV2LcaW6n3xXls9VRYcWpEMcb_spkXQQcPP2M-xv-SkqSeFMKptHl36T7evoisNMYneZxLoElOJ6rni/s320/BenchCelebration23Hamilton3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />We knew Molly could be a hitter, and a good one, but our most pressing need was a practice setter, and she was very good at that also, so we recruited her to be our setter (and hitter), but quickly found out that first weekend that we'd need her to set in practice but HIT in games! She emerged from that first weekend as a dominant hitter for us getting double digit kills in every match except the first where she only played one set. We were playing different OH's all the time trying to find the right combination, and three emerged from the weekend as the main contenders, with Katie leading the way and sophomore Lillian and freshman Lauren coming through in the Cortland match with 11, and 9 kills respectively to cement their places in the running for that spot.<p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">Our first NESCAC match saw us lose somewhat badly to a seasoned Williams team 0-3, but we went on to sweep Amherst the next day and then take down a tough Hamilton squad 3-1 after they had narrowly lost to Williams 2-3 the weekend before. We then went on an 8-1 run with impressive sweeps of Tufts (electric match at Home!!) and Eastern Nazarene and were drawing a great HOME crowd which made for a really fun environment at home! </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnegoOBL6Pi1_K_z5xZC9K38eXA0Dzx7-ed5v3cHrXXl_8p4tLNLJ9D0hE27XH3X-2gVsQYmitEqYOIRclPm7LRqyz2gXt0H4zP9_o6CYANTpI37UIXHvrKxaDGpVRZ1GUBSIwxOqxXykH2FEnbFK-UOC9oNkb2MvYBnb_K7o59A3nvXK7lKoIVJXk5oEB/s5017/VBallCelebration23Tufts13.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2819" data-original-width="5017" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnegoOBL6Pi1_K_z5xZC9K38eXA0Dzx7-ed5v3cHrXXl_8p4tLNLJ9D0hE27XH3X-2gVsQYmitEqYOIRclPm7LRqyz2gXt0H4zP9_o6CYANTpI37UIXHvrKxaDGpVRZ1GUBSIwxOqxXykH2FEnbFK-UOC9oNkb2MvYBnb_K7o59A3nvXK7lKoIVJXk5oEB/w368-h207/VBallCelebration23Tufts13.jpg" width="368" /></a></div><p></p><p>We went over to Skidmore to play a couple of tough non-conference foes in Clarkson and Rochester and scored a 3-1 win against Clarkson, who is a perennial power in NY. However, we suffered another heart-breaking 2-3 loss to Rochester of the UAA Conference. It was a game of spurts, and although their head coach got tossed in the 4th set (which we went on to win, forcing a deciding 5th set), we couldn't quite finish in the end. We got behind early but staged a significant comeback being down 7-11 and then taking a commanding 14-11 lead, but just couldn't get that final point and lost 14-16. Devastating. Our serving was a huge reason for our success at this point in the season and it seemed to be improving as we went along, which was great to see. Our receive was also a strong suit of ours to aid our offense that was becoming more and more balanced with both Ava and Lexi (and Gabby) emerging as strong forces in the middle and with Molly on the right side and Katie and either Lauren or Lillian on the left, we were becoming a force to contend with. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX3Sl-_G4tAUtw3Q22BxuRdS-8P89yEHnWFfKQZUfxiVx-7llOOtA1-ScA0YqUsTxy5lGvLj_lXcqDhiFHoE1_VlBsdIsEBOd_LTaPsb7n-v0dZsS9X4EU_HCw-UlkSON2i_4DMqUfdd7VBtEX98AVaGZIgIwD6_9oCHM412ioOn4tHn0H50HXa5hY0v4q/s640/halloween.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX3Sl-_G4tAUtw3Q22BxuRdS-8P89yEHnWFfKQZUfxiVx-7llOOtA1-ScA0YqUsTxy5lGvLj_lXcqDhiFHoE1_VlBsdIsEBOd_LTaPsb7n-v0dZsS9X4EU_HCw-UlkSON2i_4DMqUfdd7VBtEX98AVaGZIgIwD6_9oCHM412ioOn4tHn0H50HXa5hY0v4q/s320/halloween.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />I want to note, however, that because Molly stormed onto the scene with impressive hitting and shut-down blocking, Steph was relegated to playing fewer minutes as our only lefty RH but was very quietly crushing it every chance she got and went on to hit an impressive .429 for the season to lead the team in hitting %!! Conn and Bowdoin was a great weekend. We held off a feisty Conn team in a hard-fought sweep, and then swept Bowdoin the next day with the 2nd set being a 25-7 rout!! Unfortunately, Kelly suffered a concussion during the Bowdoin match, and although she finished that match ended up missing the next three weekends of play. Colby handed us our second loss in Conference and then we swept Bates in a competitive match. <p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVKoGo6xtpwnrPSyWgQaYC38oIMuM_8-w644cjjhA3FF2h3Rsvz-j-ATkHH3VInz6OeotmTLVLRa8PBqe87dicjYkBmiJFEEe8as7bKK_Iq7LSrxn8u49NkJA1OxTc7DXr3jwRPGIkdugTKNeaRQnfcR_i0EBWdFwLJfX9ZokbE8sdE0Z_c6g4FEjPhq3s/s640/Team%20pic%20with%20families.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="221" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVKoGo6xtpwnrPSyWgQaYC38oIMuM_8-w644cjjhA3FF2h3Rsvz-j-ATkHH3VInz6OeotmTLVLRa8PBqe87dicjYkBmiJFEEe8as7bKK_Iq7LSrxn8u49NkJA1OxTc7DXr3jwRPGIkdugTKNeaRQnfcR_i0EBWdFwLJfX9ZokbE8sdE0Z_c6g4FEjPhq3s/w295-h221/Team%20pic%20with%20families.jpg" width="295" /></a></div><br />Next up for us was the New England Challenge matches hosted by Williams college. We stayed again at Jiminy Peak Resort, which has become a fun tradition while playing at Williams. We stay in condos, so the configuration of beds and groups is totally different than staying in a hotel. Heading into that weekend all three NEWMAC teams were on a roll with MIT ranking in the top 25 Nationally, and Springfield coming in at 25th Nationally and Babson right behind them. Other than the loss to Colby, we felt like we were playing well and starting really coming together as a team. We beat Springfield in a closely contested 3-1 match and went on the next day to lose a very tight MIT match 0-3 and then beat a good Babson team 3-1. Babson was missing some key players so the match wasn't as tight as it could have been, but they still battled, and our team came through with a big win, nonetheless.<p></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil2LiOCs4d6yU3ZF3xAiArXqC3sSaTgGKgRxzI-0aPzOIrDeBrE3oqUZn9dujq-UIc4fK2EgZS8rpQnmHB-CC8UW1UD6VDW4agJED-Jtr3ViDWUGlM5yyasKgXFKGua6irgLLHqFIoHgZaHR6ui3m4hMghCtGQxbeip-aph9GnlMD0ImRvTuKjzTHB47Oc/s4534/seniors%202023.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3023" data-original-width="4534" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil2LiOCs4d6yU3ZF3xAiArXqC3sSaTgGKgRxzI-0aPzOIrDeBrE3oqUZn9dujq-UIc4fK2EgZS8rpQnmHB-CC8UW1UD6VDW4agJED-Jtr3ViDWUGlM5yyasKgXFKGua6irgLLHqFIoHgZaHR6ui3m4hMghCtGQxbeip-aph9GnlMD0ImRvTuKjzTHB47Oc/s320/seniors%202023.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />That brings us to our final two NESCAC matches of the year, to determine the final seeding for the tournament. This was also Senior Night, so it was fun to celebrate these four fantastic seniors! Because they'd changed the format this year, we had already secured a home playoff game being in the top 4 regardless of outcome, but there was still some room to move up...Wesleyan was coming in undefeated in Conference and we played them to a very tough 2-3 loss, but we felt good about how we competed and played a very good team. Trinity had been having a great season and was also fighting for a spot in the top 4, but we dashed those hopes with a 3-0 win on Saturday to end the regular season. <p></p><p>So, we finished the regular season 15-7 and earned the #3 Seed for the NESCAC Championship, meaning we'd host a first round game for the first time ever!</p><p><br /></p>sjrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13963044523676490704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086471065646963781.post-70497878273197758072023-09-18T16:21:00.001-04:002023-09-21T11:19:50.568-04:00Start of Season Fun!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1rQ_tehrh-0qXCSva7-NQ6EIYx2EMM4exT9pZxFAyc3JVU4qcqxaVdK2G9U9hkPG6b2fFLVU7bAtCb2NTNpimbIb92PTk8mcYO9t9NnrxvICoBptY8qigylBp7iFUWIdHNJUrPzXD8SmurWewGKFe0c2ZHcJ85q9QqBr-OsYVkGYrK9frfZLbgwU8fyG7/s640/team%20at%20bbq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1rQ_tehrh-0qXCSva7-NQ6EIYx2EMM4exT9pZxFAyc3JVU4qcqxaVdK2G9U9hkPG6b2fFLVU7bAtCb2NTNpimbIb92PTk8mcYO9t9NnrxvICoBptY8qigylBp7iFUWIdHNJUrPzXD8SmurWewGKFe0c2ZHcJ85q9QqBr-OsYVkGYrK9frfZLbgwU8fyG7/s320/team%20at%20bbq.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>Lots has happened since my last update, so we'll try to summarize things here. We welcomed our new freshmen at our Team BBQ at my house as our first gathering of the new year. Fun times, despite the bugs--it was a super wet summer here in VT, so the mosquitos were fierce this Fall! Pre season was full of practice, meetings, bonding time, and lots of volleyball fun.<div><br /></div><div>The pictures below are of each class, starting with seniors and moving down to the new freshman class. It's a really fun group and we're enjoying working together and competing every day. Practices are competitive and fun, so we're improving steadily, which is really fun to see.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW4N1qMjxIfau4VwHKdF6UrxfUL7Eh3OxGgsuY38YBWGT9VDo_EMxQhfSU0okFOk6tr49YZ1dYXKzsqPg67TlWY4mUtnH5x5_YU2pGdum0OX_LqKbWW1Kr2IDGpKkD_kXe6n8YQT80U9WnwC2KnXndhRKQbpIrmcO8TfZs4PwxTBn5ds1TCbXYktallrV-/s640/seniors%20bbq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW4N1qMjxIfau4VwHKdF6UrxfUL7Eh3OxGgsuY38YBWGT9VDo_EMxQhfSU0okFOk6tr49YZ1dYXKzsqPg67TlWY4mUtnH5x5_YU2pGdum0OX_LqKbWW1Kr2IDGpKkD_kXe6n8YQT80U9WnwC2KnXndhRKQbpIrmcO8TfZs4PwxTBn5ds1TCbXYktallrV-/s320/seniors%20bbq.jpg" width="320" /></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE3bTj8QaUP7hZ8gm2ASiu7WVbscnppaCx83NhjQ0ENuaH_N13ceILKPKRievtOSbTfLC0RtfG5Qx1zdDOQpXp1-gAxBY2Da0pnd2i7PzQ2qo9jda1r_sa_SqCidVGcJ5MRrwwkCtPeFLZyhz2z_5IJUz6Gxjj77QcW-oTMJga4DlGtASCM_S5VpiWECUk/s640/juniors%20bbq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE3bTj8QaUP7hZ8gm2ASiu7WVbscnppaCx83NhjQ0ENuaH_N13ceILKPKRievtOSbTfLC0RtfG5Qx1zdDOQpXp1-gAxBY2Da0pnd2i7PzQ2qo9jda1r_sa_SqCidVGcJ5MRrwwkCtPeFLZyhz2z_5IJUz6Gxjj77QcW-oTMJga4DlGtASCM_S5VpiWECUk/s320/juniors%20bbq.jpg" width="320" /></a></div></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTha6cp5h5ZfTk9UNREFK4CTunWDwbvK8iVPDYLnPqkWenXp9qd2cHhbRcPdbpwDBZmozDDa7qYpOfSudf2XTD7DX6NC3kuWwW1tBOQ_THp2Cd2NBjVWFRUWcVabbAvgCxrtDXwv6-RE9ou5szGpxj6CLFOHQLxgpJ8nLzemviRTIlQRhizswL0jTcDVmp/s640/sophs%20at%20bbq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTha6cp5h5ZfTk9UNREFK4CTunWDwbvK8iVPDYLnPqkWenXp9qd2cHhbRcPdbpwDBZmozDDa7qYpOfSudf2XTD7DX6NC3kuWwW1tBOQ_THp2Cd2NBjVWFRUWcVabbAvgCxrtDXwv6-RE9ou5szGpxj6CLFOHQLxgpJ8nLzemviRTIlQRhizswL0jTcDVmp/s320/sophs%20at%20bbq.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYFiFTOzRl69K1xcFLZ5Kjs49A-PpmfAkq3hVkfvnREnJr3HzR3uZlgPT8U-qK9M5PwqpQBi-ZEfQhe_J2f40cHER7aRrLAfAaYe7pSZL7DBojBe1TkdknfOID-tIZzrAqQozQmNtcjoPlg-BGVukE-JVwZoC7donavvLgGK3o3bEc-lt8ummsZwJvwqcO/s640/frosh%20at%20bbq.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYFiFTOzRl69K1xcFLZ5Kjs49A-PpmfAkq3hVkfvnREnJr3HzR3uZlgPT8U-qK9M5PwqpQBi-ZEfQhe_J2f40cHER7aRrLAfAaYe7pSZL7DBojBe1TkdknfOID-tIZzrAqQozQmNtcjoPlg-BGVukE-JVwZoC7donavvLgGK3o3bEc-lt8ummsZwJvwqcO/s320/frosh%20at%20bbq.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> In addition to the pre season schedule of practices and meetings, we also were able to get over to the local High School and help out with their newly minted varsity volleyball program! Vermont is the last state in the country to add girls volleyball as a sanctioned HS sport, so in town they've spent the last two years as a JV sport until they built up the program with numbers etc, to compete at the varsity level. I'm so proud of these young women. Lucy Ambach (Molecular Biology and Biochemistry) and Manya Kula (Psychology) were both honored with Magna Cum Laude status, and both Laney Sullivan (Economics) and Addie Mahler (Joint Environmental Studies/Biology) were Summa Cum Laude, so right off the bat that's an impressive group of seniors!</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">On top of that, Laney received high honors by the Econ Department and was also the recipient of the D.K. Very cool! Caitlin received the Franklin G. Williams 1913 & Sara H. Williams 1912 Memorial Award. This is awarded to sophomore student on the basis of deep human qualities of natural kindness, perceptivity of the needs and feelings of others, and an abiding sense of personal responsibility. Caitlin is a very deserving recipient of this award and I was honored to be there to see her receive it. </div></div><p></p></div>sjrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13963044523676490704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086471065646963781.post-39843072877591327512023-05-05T15:21:00.014-04:002023-06-16T14:52:56.282-04:00Spring Happenings: Symposium, Poetry Readings, and Archery<p>Spring is a wonderful time of the year. Obviously, I love the Fall and being in season, but Spring in VT is also a gorgeous time of the year, and there's always a lot going on as the semester wraps up. There will be more updates, but we've had students present their work at the Spring Symposium, the Black Studies Student Work Gallery, and even some more recreational events like learning Archery from Coach Sarah!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxTSAW7j4pVc8O9L4dHM7gxF6BZFlPBHMLoXoKyzpnU7ATIy2Fc2hDQmjXaLlDdByOQ1zhy35xn3Fg4iVRyz8_kKuuB506mtYaMv6Rl20VC_qFrAxfebVX-SD0l4CCdTT_q6qvMn1pJ7v_mZddNXLyYFx9rL13qIg7l3RYL047OO2q9EY_5-lb8I1o6A/s640/kelly%20and%20lucy%20symp.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxTSAW7j4pVc8O9L4dHM7gxF6BZFlPBHMLoXoKyzpnU7ATIy2Fc2hDQmjXaLlDdByOQ1zhy35xn3Fg4iVRyz8_kKuuB506mtYaMv6Rl20VC_qFrAxfebVX-SD0l4CCdTT_q6qvMn1pJ7v_mZddNXLyYFx9rL13qIg7l3RYL047OO2q9EY_5-lb8I1o6A/s320/kelly%20and%20lucy%20symp.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWOQwnmsSpUQ8w3gJS8AAb8UPAlXMY5dbMD6k3Kxv4byFVr-vY3DSWTwF854nbTPEFp6uty1OWHyXrUSZ_82Cd0dqHdnbVlIxrbsBHUP3Podcms0xoipZhSDKDbtjn2kl9YncRZYFHBlqAnEcBEZzIMNydJSBylAeEaIPENSEuSH2QQWvKo2V-GtMCLQ/s640/kelly%20symp.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWOQwnmsSpUQ8w3gJS8AAb8UPAlXMY5dbMD6k3Kxv4byFVr-vY3DSWTwF854nbTPEFp6uty1OWHyXrUSZ_82Cd0dqHdnbVlIxrbsBHUP3Podcms0xoipZhSDKDbtjn2kl9YncRZYFHBlqAnEcBEZzIMNydJSBylAeEaIPENSEuSH2QQWvKo2V-GtMCLQ/s320/kelly%20symp.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />First we had presentations at the Spring Symposium from Kelly and Lucy, both of whom crushed it! I miss the team once the season is over and we don't get to hang out every day. We have class photos here as well as our Team Award winners. Our banquet is a time to celebrate our Team for this year, and our seniors. We fought hard vs Wes, but ultimately, they were too strong with too many options for us to combat, and we lost 0-3. The next day we traveled to Trinity, whom we needed to beat to secure the 6th seed in the tournament. It turned out to be their Homecoming, so some of our team joined in the festivities by playing some cornhole before the game! We took town a feisty Trinity Team by a score of 3-1, thus putting us in good shape for the upcoming NESCACs.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFPpfEm3PKFU-npN46P-NfPNE5Q_yz4MpgswerHWrLakElS-54X-Neey4lNtdAp6wg0t8VO784XQQ7dCGqm0q_4yca8_9RUtSKpGQvWwKngX3Sa8Drl8Z5mqJH_ddz9W1djuJ7woHn8FXzQnajQZqpO-mKSn_pgpdhixYXRjiQwcRNy6LTL_93iizp7Q/s640/trinity%20tailgate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFPpfEm3PKFU-npN46P-NfPNE5Q_yz4MpgswerHWrLakElS-54X-Neey4lNtdAp6wg0t8VO784XQQ7dCGqm0q_4yca8_9RUtSKpGQvWwKngX3Sa8Drl8Z5mqJH_ddz9W1djuJ7woHn8FXzQnajQZqpO-mKSn_pgpdhixYXRjiQwcRNy6LTL_93iizp7Q/s320/trinity%20tailgate.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>By finishing our season strongly, we earned the 6th seed in the NESCAC Tournament. All things being equal, we were actually really excited about our match-up with Williams in the 3vs6 match. We had barely lost to Williams early in the season losing 1-3 but having every set determined by only 2 points and extra points at that. We'd grown a lot over the season, as I'm sure they did also, but we were eagerly anticipating our match with them.</p><p>Because Wesleyan had beaten Tufts head to head, they earned the right to host even though Bowdoin had upset Wes for their only Conference loss. So, we headed back to Middletown, CT for the second weekend in a row, having played them the weekend before to end our regular season.</p><p>Williams started out strongly, taking the first set 14-25. We bounced back and forced extra points in the second set and unfortunately came up on the short end of the 27-29 set two. That would have been huge if we'd been able to pull out that second set as we did end up securing the 3rd set win 25-23. Although we fought valiantly in the fourth set, we dug ourselves a bit too much of a hole and ended up losing that final set 20-25. To give Williams credit, I think they were playing as well as I'd seen them and they went on to make the NCAA's despite losing to Tufts in the semi-finals of the Tournament. They ended up advancing to the NCAA Regional finals, so our showing against them was actually a good testament to how far we'd come during the season and we have high hopes for next year!</p><p>We'll certainly miss our seniors, but we have a good core coming back and with the additions of a new class of freshmen, plus hopefully having a fully healed Caitlin and Steph back in the gym, we're feeling good about a bright future!</p>sjrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13963044523676490704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086471065646963781.post-62305539259379065042022-11-07T11:28:00.000-05:002022-12-14T11:55:47.685-05:00MCVB Takes 2nd at NE Challenge!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2vK0PdOItWxVNvIEMpZWD2WxYQ1uzUhRB2raQJqH1uGtpnVWOSCe78Q_rCCiU0Q-cQBeAKXPUk9Xa3yzBPPWRqI5EzJ91EdRFr_6jDt3Ldjl2K6s8aP5WyMDXLJWcsMSWUouAm-TlHBRYjwaRpzQ7K4IXn8mIsK-p9RyKOBgYWtneBt8kBsk_79W_CA/s640/alums%20at%20MIT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2vK0PdOItWxVNvIEMpZWD2WxYQ1uzUhRB2raQJqH1uGtpnVWOSCe78Q_rCCiU0Q-cQBeAKXPUk9Xa3yzBPPWRqI5EzJ91EdRFr_6jDt3Ldjl2K6s8aP5WyMDXLJWcsMSWUouAm-TlHBRYjwaRpzQ7K4IXn8mIsK-p9RyKOBgYWtneBt8kBsk_79W_CA/s320/alums%20at%20MIT.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>Next up for us was the New England Challenge against the top NEWMAC teams starting with Babson (then ranked 23rd in the nation), followed by MIT (then ranked #19 in the nation), and then Springfield. We had a tough 5 setter with Babson last year, and we were pumped to compete with a nationally ranked team. We arrived in Boston to play Babson on Friday night and came out strong and really handled Babson keeping them under 20 points in all three sets we won. Our middles were the main story as Lucy was a blocking machine in that game totaling 10 blocks while Lexi led the team with 12 kills! <p></p><p>A nice bonus about playing in Boston is that it's easier for some alums to see us! Shea, Ali and Bella all came to see us on Saturday afternoon, which was awesome--always LOVE seeing former MCVBers!! </p><p>Saturday morning we played MIT, who lived up to their national ranking. They were very tough but we put up a good fight and ended up being the only NESCAC team that weekend to get a game from them! After our sweep of Springfield in the afternoon, we ended up taking second place because of that one set win vs MIT, so that was exciting. Both Lucy and Katie were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts. Gabbie also had a very strong weekend showing having 36 assists/15 digs vs Babson; 31 assists/2 aces/3 blocks and 15 digs vs MIT; 31 assists/2 blocks/10 digs vs Springfield. Lillian really is stepping us big for us as well now in the starting lineup finishing the weekend with 8, 9 and 11 kills respectively in the matches.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivGg7clEnLlp7k2j8nUuKn4V1wQ1kxiGnBVAAVhtSbQlpf1eK_tT-Y-x7vvmqWEVUrdaHxTq7SdN4oS977c9UdZcpQvGHID2aRNms0XogzhcUbF5BlYtssj2kX2pUhv7-6nF01xOimndzDZQ7Nt6fKHE9Pzhraua7N0H2eVSHzIRGTwC73BZLvDQTHVQ/s640/team%20with%20alums%20MIT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivGg7clEnLlp7k2j8nUuKn4V1wQ1kxiGnBVAAVhtSbQlpf1eK_tT-Y-x7vvmqWEVUrdaHxTq7SdN4oS977c9UdZcpQvGHID2aRNms0XogzhcUbF5BlYtssj2kX2pUhv7-6nF01xOimndzDZQ7Nt6fKHE9Pzhraua7N0H2eVSHzIRGTwC73BZLvDQTHVQ/s320/team%20with%20alums%20MIT.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>sjrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13963044523676490704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086471065646963781.post-70450259799805386102022-11-02T10:15:00.027-04:002022-12-14T15:54:40.639-05:00MCVB Celebrates our Seniors With Two WINS!<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmjGZ5ndfapFaTS8SiRq_MXXfE4oFogiNwCFfO9C8_nVJS0ZUu31aaQOw5NYGA561sbatYKE8VTYAnl0KyAG73OTL2tay2pu91nPEbMc1pZp57N520-nR6vf2jhcAvOzq2vujOJ3pBCHC3H2Llw3G4I00Z1MYYIIcVnNjh9OwKYvsUPaPWmX2X_qRknw/s1024/seniors%20families.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmjGZ5ndfapFaTS8SiRq_MXXfE4oFogiNwCFfO9C8_nVJS0ZUu31aaQOw5NYGA561sbatYKE8VTYAnl0KyAG73OTL2tay2pu91nPEbMc1pZp57N520-nR6vf2jhcAvOzq2vujOJ3pBCHC3H2Llw3G4I00Z1MYYIIcVnNjh9OwKYvsUPaPWmX2X_qRknw/s320/seniors%20families.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> After an up and down start to the season getting us to early October with a 7-7 record, we started to come together as a team, solidifying a lineup that was starting to click after early injuries forced changes often. Our first month was spent on the road every weekend, but we did have a couple of mid-week matches at home, which is easier on our class schedules.<p></p><p>Our second NESCAC weekend took us to Hamilton to play our travel partner and then a tough Ithaca team. We played really well Friday night at Hamilton and came away with a 3-0 win, which was great. Lillian got her first start of the year as we played without Katie who wasn't feeling well enough to travel. A bonus of that match was that we were down 22-24 in the first set and we pushed ahead to finish that first set with a 26-24 win, showing some grit and composure that we need moving forward! Thus, the post-win Dunkin picture the following day!</p><p>That next weekend we played a talented Tufts team followed by a talented Endicott team, both regional powers so we got a great test that weekend. Unfortunately, we came up with two losses, but we are taking stock of the controllable factors that we need to improve and will resolve to keep working hard in practice to better our skills day by day!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-JXjMNcjq_TPW5_8OT1DvV-rZLwNl9bbcuIITv-O3C-esjtQNysqpZUsTj86itml8sNjO2hqXTzk7speVwonJfVd5WbztjC8jI6agJ0RVQcJQZHcSkD-1Q7kY-fQuO07mBNxmrE7IowqzGrHIbqw2Ihl3b6Z6VqChJRsAA9gvMIGw1FfpqpRStvEb6A/s640/lexi%20friend.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-JXjMNcjq_TPW5_8OT1DvV-rZLwNl9bbcuIITv-O3C-esjtQNysqpZUsTj86itml8sNjO2hqXTzk7speVwonJfVd5WbztjC8jI6agJ0RVQcJQZHcSkD-1Q7kY-fQuO07mBNxmrE7IowqzGrHIbqw2Ihl3b6Z6VqChJRsAA9gvMIGw1FfpqpRStvEb6A/s320/lexi%20friend.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />The first weekend of our two-week HOME stand was Fall Family Weekend, which was great to be home for along with all of our other teams. The Fall colors were just about peak, so it's a perfect time to have parents all visiting VT, so that was good timing! The weekend saw us take on two Conference foes in Connecticut College and Bowdoin, as well as a non-Conference opponent in St. Lawrence. <p></p><p>We came away from the weekend with a 2-1 record, and although we lost to Bowdoin, we continue to see some very good play from different people, which is great. Also, Lexi's best friend plays for Bowdoin, so that was a fun reunion for them. </p>sjrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13963044523676490704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086471065646963781.post-20148297989169184422022-09-28T10:14:00.016-04:002022-10-14T11:02:59.848-04:002022 Season Starts On the Road<p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWQKXgPxqECicP634uC29Y-AS2-lNYsWlt7xTr_99Zd4caknpwkXX8gIzO_CLBq7cTFhdansrK9WCRiirFmwmeVqJBm1v0Lmz7p42_hqOfgDfbFTQ6xibB_46IN-xSic30oKgme98KlbcHMPncyVb-cq_KmPqmGZOqxJFq64nY8OrIGetQNbLDzJD17w/s640/bbq1.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWQKXgPxqECicP634uC29Y-AS2-lNYsWlt7xTr_99Zd4caknpwkXX8gIzO_CLBq7cTFhdansrK9WCRiirFmwmeVqJBm1v0Lmz7p42_hqOfgDfbFTQ6xibB_46IN-xSic30oKgme98KlbcHMPncyVb-cq_KmPqmGZOqxJFq64nY8OrIGetQNbLDzJD17w/s320/bbq1.jpg" width="320" /></a> The 2022 season got off to a great start with a lot of good work during pre-season. One of those was the Crop Walk to help raise money and awareness for food insecurities in our community. This Spring in celebration of Earth Day, most of the College campus participated in Green Up Day, and our team chose a path between the the Athletic Complex and up through the main part of campus to clean up. I don't think we had any pictures of us doing the Community Supper this year, nor of individuals with their "community friends" from town. Some others help with mentoring of various different ages of local students and I'm sure I'm missing other activities as well...giving back is really important and is a win-win, especially in small, tight-knit community like Middlebury.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiykGFgJDVCLlOz9UBV-r_JCquKnUqaMfhaxB5sSCeA2ePYXIDKAsXcvJnY4Lk_5T_yoFT7eEIJWucJgixwxhGwOafYOuPU_WUzF3jBeZqaUQgJUsE3cZ3vkd6GpyUWt6of3uE6sj2zWRXcWW_coEtFCrp2kD9UDo6R85WPo3TZeicOmR8zRe6Zf_-9Ag/s640/lucy%20green%20up.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiykGFgJDVCLlOz9UBV-r_JCquKnUqaMfhaxB5sSCeA2ePYXIDKAsXcvJnY4Lk_5T_yoFT7eEIJWucJgixwxhGwOafYOuPU_WUzF3jBeZqaUQgJUsE3cZ3vkd6GpyUWt6of3uE6sj2zWRXcWW_coEtFCrp2kD9UDo6R85WPo3TZeicOmR8zRe6Zf_-9Ag/s320/lucy%20green%20up.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg73y_RpGFc8evN8ibLXYwMAh5XZuzkWHok9223RNtJRUtl8j7h5JQ5MtSQJvXc25ZJemV2hsUO0qEu6zgb2BaFdlNmmg02Eo4PLfXta6vHwRo2QgV08LwLMEqcn7kx1ufvs3Y-yDEIxSrt6hivGXZHs1DcJTgQyB6ikbgeapxDOnOcuYQ7bcwPNDuRkw/s640/green%20up%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg73y_RpGFc8evN8ibLXYwMAh5XZuzkWHok9223RNtJRUtl8j7h5JQ5MtSQJvXc25ZJemV2hsUO0qEu6zgb2BaFdlNmmg02Eo4PLfXta6vHwRo2QgV08LwLMEqcn7kx1ufvs3Y-yDEIxSrt6hivGXZHs1DcJTgQyB6ikbgeapxDOnOcuYQ7bcwPNDuRkw/s320/green%20up%202.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBWIIiTO-XS_WA9CeFkQixKf0OL5qs7uUrDXNEUKKJTuvG_m3BqHncawzm79u7JV1ONz_L8KZfEmI2AP70FE4ZsbUHce7wfLcXhd_vTS7XBL5loHkU2NS9xw7eYUFiRq-nqhK9D_cMZovYg-E2yZ9gPh9eU-uTCD2Xtz-5lQOwo_NICJt06tMHAdj3LA/s640/team%20green%20up.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="480" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBWIIiTO-XS_WA9CeFkQixKf0OL5qs7uUrDXNEUKKJTuvG_m3BqHncawzm79u7JV1ONz_L8KZfEmI2AP70FE4ZsbUHce7wfLcXhd_vTS7XBL5loHkU2NS9xw7eYUFiRq-nqhK9D_cMZovYg-E2yZ9gPh9eU-uTCD2Xtz-5lQOwo_NICJt06tMHAdj3LA/s320/team%20green%20up.jpg" width="240" /></a></div></div><br /><br /><br /><p><br /></p>sjrhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13963044523676490704noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086471065646963781.post-89298491046725768192022-05-14T15:04:00.001-04:002022-05-27T15:20:26.699-04:00Small Group Dinners at Coach's House<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3d2uOUpSC4pILm8M2TLQw11fvzekV6GdB4UPz2hkVAg9rDM0EzCDuLaeKGa4D645HPvkf66wenj2qgZIchtLRpvsKtdBPmY6nGqgKKiO1OD710qxoEiobR9u19Dn6NgQp3zG49Ku9J9LLxfZK4sAaFQOjdwBrYmMIpS_yBENPTgCXXCKUgzGwzPVl9g/s640/dinner%20chez%20moi%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3d2uOUpSC4pILm8M2TLQw11fvzekV6GdB4UPz2hkVAg9rDM0EzCDuLaeKGa4D645HPvkf66wenj2qgZIchtLRpvsKtdBPmY6nGqgKKiO1OD710qxoEiobR9u19Dn6NgQp3zG49Ku9J9LLxfZK4sAaFQOjdwBrYmMIpS_yBENPTgCXXCKUgzGwzPVl9g/s320/dinner%20chez%20moi%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I'm not a chef, and it's a bit hard for me to cook for the entire team and have it turn out ok, so I try to invite smaller groups out for dinner at my house over the course of our off-season. This year, we had two groups and left out the seniors since I take them out to dinner during Senior Week every year!<p></p><p>Our first group chose to make "design your own pizzas" with some various different items. One was good old peperoni, and one had some veggies no cheese, and one re-created a local favorite of Apply, Bacon, Cheddar...and theirs was JUST as good as Flatbread!!</p><p>The other group had tacos. Since we forgot to take pictures of our tacos (and they're less creative than make your own pizza), we took a picture with my chickens instead! Steph in particular was enthralled with our remaining 3 chickens, especially "Ginger" who she named and is holding here! It was a bonding time for us, as well as getting in a lot of great strength work. We also shared space with other teams, which is always fun. On Mondays we lifted with some of the Football team, Wednesdays we lifted with some of Men's Hockey, and Fridays we lifted with Women's Basketball. We shared who got to choose the music each day, not just on our team, but between teams...no offense to anyone, but I think we enjoyed the basketball team music second to our own!
